What are academic journals?

Answer

A journal is a periodical published about one subject, usually by an organization, association, or society related to that topic.

Journals contain original research and studies by people who work in that field.  They can be called academic journals or scholarly journals. They're different from magazines, which are less detailed, and written for the general public. Journals are available in the library's databases.

Some journals may be peer-reviewed.  See this video for more information on these journals.
