The source I am using has a quote from another source. How do I cite this?

Answer

If you are quoting or paraphrasing from a secondhand (also known as secondary or indirect) source, mention the original work in the text of your paper and place the phrase "as cited in" before the secondhand source you cite in your reference citation.

The corresponding reference list entry is for the actual source you used. Consult the APA Style section on Secondary Sources.

Inside your paper

According to researcher Robert Stevenson, "Scientists don't like to think of HeLa cells as being little bits of Henrietta because it's much easier to do science when you disassociate your materials from the people they come from" (as cited in Skloot, 2011, p. 216).
